A selection of my favourite images from 2021.
I started the year spending January and February in Lebanon, covering the COVID-19 pandemic and demonstrations relating to the economic collapse. In March I went to Syria, on the 10 year anniversary since the start of the revolution, and to Iraq to cover the Pope’s first visit to the country. From April to July I was back in the UK covering news and politics mostly for Reuters, including a week back in Cornwall for the G7 summit. In August I went back to Beirut to cover vigils, memorials and demonstrations for the one year anniversary of the port explosion, as well as ongoing work on the economic collapse. From September to December I was back in the UK for more news and politics, including film premieres, Extinction Rebellion climate demonstrations and arts jobs, not to mention the ongoing developments in the COVID-19 pandemic. And in December I went to Egypt, mostly for a holiday, but with a few photos too.
Overall, an exciting, varied and turbulent year. Thanks in particular to the Reuters picture desk, The Times picture desk, and friends in Beirut and London who have put up with my comings and goings. Thank you!
