Tom Nicholson is a British freelance photojournalist based in Paris, France. He covers news, commercial and feature assignments for editorial clients, NGOs and private organisations. He has worked on a wide range of subjects internationally including natural disasters, social unrest, migration, the effects of conflict, politics, sports and royals.

Tom studied BA Photojournalism at the London College of Communication where he graduated with a First Class Honours. He then worked from London for eight years, and was a stringer for Reuters news agency.

Since 2018, Tom was based part-time in Lebanon, covering stories in the Middle East such as the aftermath of the war in Syria, de-mining in Iraq, the Lebanese Revolution, the Beirut port explosion, COVID-19 and Kurdish New Year festivities. More recently, he has covered the war in Ukraine and the earthquake in Turkey. Now based in Paris, France, he covers daily news and foreign assignments and is a stringer for Reuters, Getty Images and The Associated Press.

He has taken multiple Hostile Environment and First Aid Training (HEFAT) courses with First Option Safety, Separ International, and Reuters. He has also received specialised training in reporting from demonstrations and protests, as well as wildfire safety.
